Our Springboard Project

Selig Suffolk Springboard opened in June 2023. It provides affordable, high quality, self-catering, supported accommodation for 7 adults who would otherwise be homeless. It began in June 2023 in the newly adapted building that had previously hosted our winter night shelter.

Faced with declining numbers of people using our winter night shelter, transforming our night shelter was the best way for us to continue to support local adults who are experiencing homelessness.

Funding to begin this project was been generously granted by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Night Shelter Transformation Fund plus a range of grants via the Suffolk Community Foundation.

Springboard helps residents to progress towards living independently in permanent, sustainable accommodation. The sole aim is to empower our residents to end homelessness through employment. We believe that affordable supported accommodation plus employment will change our residents’ lives for good.

Employment support for Springboard is provided in close partnership with our local Department for Work and Pensions service. They empower our tenants to apply for and secure employment.

This project helps to prevent rough sleeping by addressing the lack of affordable housing, which can prevent people from getting back on their feet and back into work.

This project also creates sustainable change by empowering our residents to live a full and independent life and to become part of the community.

Selig Suffolk Springboard will reduce the risk of former residents slipping back in to homelessness. Once a resident moves out, we will provide at least six months of regular contact and general support, plus they will be invited to continue being involved with our communal meals, events, activities, and Chaplaincy.

Thanks to our volunteers and staff, we help Selig Suffolk Springboard residents to regain hope and purpose, based around their individual, goals, strengths, dreams, and needs.
